Why moso bamboo?
Moso bamboo is one of the most promising alternatives in the required change to a sustainable world. Moso bamboo grows faster than any other plant in the world, it can grow up to one meter a day. Moso bamboo also takes approximately 6 months to biodegrade, whereas a single plastic toothbrush takes a thousand years.
Sustainable bamboo plantation
One bamboo plant consists of several poles and new shoots will grow from the mother plant every year. Generally, 20-25% of the poles in a sustainable bamboo forest or plantation can be harvested each year. This happens without decreasing the number of poles, the plant does not die after harvesting (unlike with trees), which means no deforestation. In fact, by harvesting the mature plants, the yield and quality of the plantation increases.
How would you feel if you could grow 1 meter a day?
Green features
What makes Moso bamboo different from other bamboo species?
- CO2 Neutral: Moso outperforms all other bamboos, as well as hardwood varieties, in carbon dioxide absorption and oxygen production.
- Endless Resource: Annual harvest of mature stems does not harm the mother plant.
- Rapid Regeneration: Moso is the most rapidly growing plant on the planet. It can grow at the amazing speed of about 1 meter daily.
Panda friendly!
Pandas don’t actually eat the bamboo itself. They eat the leaves of the bamboo.
Our products are made of Moso bamboo which is not one of the types of bamboo that pandas eat and live in. We love Pandas and we would never harm them!
